Well 3 of us went on a ride Labour weekend that did turn into an adventure

The bikes were 2 KTM 690R's with long range fuel tanks 26 ltrs and a DR650 with 30 ltrs. The bikes are set up for dirt, running knobbies, bash plates, steering dampers, upgraded suspension, performance exhausts, racks and saddle bags. The Kato's averaged 22 k's / ltr and the Dr 18 k's / ltr

We had all bought Giant Loop saddle bags which a very good and store all you need for a trip so we were keen to test these. Also on the Kato's I made some special racks to suit the bags which worked a treat.

Two of us started of Saturday morning 8.00 leaving for Pakenham to pick up another rider. We then headed over to Warburton, doing the old Warburton road (not the main road) with a bit of dirt, then to Buxton spur before taking to the dirt again on Big river road to Jamieson, with some rocky track thrown in to see how the big bikes handled fully loaded.

Lunch at Jamieson before heading off to Kevington, then more track to Knockwood Bridge, back on dirt road to Gaffneys Creek up to Frenchmans Gap. Then taking Frenchmans track to Corn Hill track following this thru to Matlock. Back on Walhalla road via Thomsom dam and the terrific Bitumen road to Erica.

We had done 350 klms and 8 hrs riding so were looking forward to the cold beers at Erica Pub where we stayed the night.

Sunday we left Erica around 8.30 heading to Walhalla, where we had breakfast.

Off again via. Aberfeldy and the Walhalla – Woodspoint dirt road, turning off, on to Sullivans track crossing the Aberfeldy river on to Jordans track, then Williamsons spur to Spring road, up to Mt Selma road, then down to Licola for lunch and refuel.

Now we are off to Dargo via Moroka road up to Billy Goats Bluff which is an easy mostly dirt road. Played tourist and had a look at the lookout and took the necessary pictures. Then we headed to Dargo where the adventure started as we headed down hill, doing approx. 70 klm's of sometimes serious tracks with plenty of rocks and hills to make it very challenging for us. Some tracks we were on include Valencia Creek, Lees Creek, Killeen Hill track (must be Russian for “killer hill”) as well as plenty of creek crossings and a few deep ones too, testing the big bikes and riders,

We arrived at Dargo right on 5.00 which was perfect as it was happy hour. Sat down to enjoy the cold beers after an exhausting day of 350 klm's and 8 hrs riding and it started raining. Perfect as it would not have been fun on the big girls in the wet !

Huge night at Dargo River Inn so we left late in the morning, deciding to ride the bitumen home via Gormadale to Sth Gippy Hwy and home. Another 350 klms and 6 hrs riding.

So we had a terrific “Adventure” with each of us given a title and we are now as keen as, to do the next big one in June.

Barretta the “Gun” speaks for itself Ex Pro Enduro rider

Damo the “Stealth” as the DR is always there and just does it quietly.

Gazza the “Bling” as my bike has every bit of orange bling available and more.

 Cheers Garry D
