News - Club Newsletter

The club newsletter is a periodical that includes general news of the happenings in the club and related areas.

Happy New Year and hope you all had a great Christmas. Quick update of things happening around the club and some dates to lock in. First Social Meeting for 2015 will be Thursday 12th of February at the Club Rooms starting at 6:30 with a light BBQ provided for a Gold Coin donation.  The club will be running social meetings every 4th week with a BBQ start and none of the waffle! Wonthaggi has been opened for a couple of twilight sessions on both the MX and Enduro loops, although the MX track has not been prepped due to weather conditions, still a great opportunity for a mid week ride. Keep tuned to the DMCC facebook page for upcoming practice sessions!

MX News
A planning meeting is to be held at Wonthaggi on Sunday 8th of February at 11:00 AM and we would like to see as many Members as possible. We will be forming a new MX Committee and looking at suggestions for club and practise days and setting the dates for these for the year. Whilst at Wonthaggi we will be taking a track walk and looking for input from riders on areas of the track so that we can begin planning the year ahead.

Weather dependant, we will be holding a practice day for the afternoon.

For more information contact Steve on 0400 227 138

Off Road News
A planning meeting for the ORCC will be held on the 5th of February at the club rooms and all are welcome. The club are looking for input to the series including formats, dates, classes etc. The broader the group the better as this will make the series even better, so please come along.

The 1st round of the Club Champs will be held on the 21st / 22nd of February and will be either a Cross Country or Super Sprint depending on weather. The big news is the venue for this Round will be the Sanders Farm at Three Bridges.

On the 21st we will be running a kickstart session for any juniors wishing to obtain their MV licenseand a coaching session for our Juniors.

A new class for 2015 which is planned to be run at selected venues will be a pre 90 class, this will be run on the Saturday afternoon and will have a handicap system in place for results, this will run over approximately 4 rounds the 1st at Three Bridges.

For more information contact Al on 0409 148 973

Classic
The major news for club permit holders is that Vicroads has from the 31st. of January changed the requirements for club permit applications. From that date all machines newer than 1948 require a roadworthy certificate. The DMCC will need to hold on file photos

of any machines applying after that date. Imported machines will require a certification for Australian Design Rules. None of this is retrospective so machines already on red plates will not be affected unless club membership and/or permit fees are not paid on time and therefore lapse.

Other news on the classic scene is that on the 15th February is the Upper Beaconsfield Village Fair which includes a classic bike show run by us. Anyone who would like to exhibit their machine would be most welcome. Our location will be west side of the local Public Hall on Salisbury Road from approximately 9am to 1pm.

Monthly classic rides are held with other clubs from the Baxter Tavern at 8.30am.on the first Sunday of every month. This is called

The Brian Beere Memorial Run.

With the year quickly coming to an end and our AGM done and dusted it is time for a final update for the year. Firstly a reminder to all that this Saturday, the 29th of November, the club is holding it’s presentation and Christmas Breakup at the Chelsea Heights Hotel in the function room starting with pre drinks at 7.30pm followed by presentations at 8.00. This will be a presentation only event with a very light supper provided later in the evening, If you would like a feed beforehand you can pre book a table at the hotel or visit one of the fast food restaurants close by.

Off Road News

With a massive 9 Rounds held this year the ORCC’s committee would like to thank all involved in making a fantastic smoothly run series and also a huge thanks to all the property owners who have let us cultivate their paddocks this year.

The presentation of this year’s series will be made on Saturday night at the Chelsea Hotel as above. To qualify for a 1st, 2nd  and 3rd trophy riders needed to have completed a minimum of 5 rounds and done a working bee, if any riders who are up for a trophy can’t make the presentation please contact Bryan Noble by e-mail at bryan.noble@woodgroup.com that you can’t make it and your trophy will be reserved instead of being recycled for next year.

The ORCC committee will be holding its annual planning meeting on Thursday the 5th of February 2015 at 7:00 pm at the club rooms and require your input to let us know what did or did not work to make a better series and what event the club wants to run for next year so please make the time and book this date in your schedule now.

MX News

A Huge thanks to all the members that helped make this year’s MX series a success with good numbers attending all rounds right up to the very last where riders got to enjoy Wonthaggi in prime condition.

For 2015 a new MX committee with fresh faces and ideas overlooking all things Wonthaggi will be formed.

An open day at Wonthaggi will be arranged in the coming weeks where we will ask all club members who have an interest to come along and provide their valuable input so we can plan the year ahead at Wonthaggi. We are looking for more input from more members  so that decisions regarding Wonthaggi can be made with everyone in mind.

We will be beginning with at least one practice day per month as well as arranging some mid week afternoon practice / ride days over the coming months.

With some good input and active club members willing to help make changes we will have a great year ahead. If you are interested in helping the MX committee and also willing to provide time and effort then please come along to our open day, we need

like minded people to get together and make a great 2015.

Whether you’re a Novice rider, a vet or Junior we are interested in hearing from you and what you have to say in regards to your club and its track.

AGM
Fast approaching is the 2007 Annual General Meeting.
Have you considered you would like to become a committee member?
It’s almost time for the Annual General Meeting again. I would encourage all members to seriously think about whether they would like to sit on the committee for the 2007 –2008
If you are at all interested please come along to the General Meetings and have a chat to the individual committee members about what sort of commitment is required to do their role properly each month.
Several of the existing committee members won’t be re-nominating for the next year, so please have a serious think about this before the next AGM.

Practice Day, Wonthaggi
Sunday 17th June.
All members welcome, good to see the welcome rainfall. Over the recent weekends while the track has been unavailable to ride on, track maintenance has been done and a new dam has been dug and once filled with water we hope we do not have to cancel any more practice days. The Committee has new purchased a new Diesel Water Pump, we hope to have this in operation for the
Practice Day.
