THE PETITION
Recent changes to Victorian planning controls now prohibit a "Motor Racing Track" state-wide in new rural zones. The definition of a Motor Racing Track in the planning documents is as follows-

"Land used to race, rally, scramble, or test, vehicles, including go-karts, motor boats, and motorcycles, and includes other competitive motor sports."

This new law prevents any legally conducted events including rally, enduro, mototrials, grasstrack, tractor pulls, water ski and even private recreational vehicle use. In addition the prohibition extends to events not requiring any formed or constructed race track or infrastructure. It also includes one off competitions or training/practice days unless the land is re-zoned.

While Government representatives agree it was not the intention of the changes they are not willing to fix the problem!

DESIRED OUTCOME

The re-defining of "Motor Racing Track" in all Victorian planning schemes to so it only applies to major new developments requiring the construction of a Motor Racing Track with permanent faclities.

WHO WE NEED TO INFLUENCE

Victorian State Planning Minister, Hon. R Hulls,
www.dse.vic.gov.au

HOW LONG WILL WE CAMPAIGN

Until the Victorian State Government changes the planning laws.

BACCHUS MARSH & WARRNAMBOOL NO LONGER AFFILATED WITH MAV
Please note and inform your club members that the MV Executive after lengthy
investigation has cancelled the affiliation with Motorcycling Victoria of
the Bacchus Marsh and Warrnambool Motorcycle Clubs.
This is as a result of the two clubs continuing to operate open key
activities or similar.
The Executive of MV completed this action at its recent meeting on Wednesday
26th April 2006. The two clubs ceased to be affiliated as from 8:05pm on
Wednesday 26th April 2006.

Regards,
Peter Wright

Motorcycling Victoria

This will now require all Bacchus Marsh & Warrnambool licence holders to join another club & transfer their MAV Licence to that club.

Australian MX Championship
Reports of this event can found:-
www.eatmydirt.com.au
www.fullnoise.com.au

Success of this event must go to all the members that help with the various jobs done on the day, a good number of spectators turned out to watch this event. Most thanks should go to the committee members that put in a lot of work before this event.

Next Practice Day Wonthaggi
Sunday 14th May

This practice day will only go ahead if we can arrange enough officials for this day, we had to cancel the last practice day because we could not get enough officials, as is a requirement of MAV, You have read the earlier report of other clubs that run meetings without enough officials on their practice days (cancelled affiliation).  We will not run practice days without the required numbers.

As this event clashes with Victorian Senior Tittles (Ballarat) some of the regular officials will be attending this meeting

2006 Yamaha Victorian Off-Road Championship launched

The 2006 Yamaha Victorian Off Road Championships was officially launched today Wednesday 8th February 2006 by Yamaha Australia.  In what is being promoted as a true Off Road Championship title encompassing the disciplines of: Enduro, Cross Country, and Enduro sprint.   The championship also includes junior and quad riders at selected events.

Series promotions manager Colin Robbins states, “The Yamaha Victorian Off Road championship has increased in numbers participating steadily over the past 3 years.  Our long-term major sponsor in Yamaha has been supporting us now for over 30 continuous years.  Over the past two years we have gained the support of many other second tier sponsors in Motul, Thor, Michelin, Scott, Tag, Alpine Star, Reikon, Gorilla Grips, Camelbak and Ferodo who have now become an integral part of the championship.  The Victorian Enduro Committee has embarked on a 4-year plan to introduce transponders to all competing riders within 4 years.  All our sponsors have seen the direction we are heading and are encouraged by the foresight of the committee.  They have all adopted this direction and have thrown their support in term of funds and products behind our vision.”

The 12 round championships has been scheduled in between the National Off Road Series, the Finke Desert Race, the Australian 4 Day Enduro, the Indoor Enduro Cross and this years the International Six Day Enduro to be held in New Zealand.

The championship includes some junior only Enduro events on private property where by juniors are introduced to the same timing and scoring system used by the senior riders.

The series kicks off at Ballarat on 5th March 2006 and after 12 gruelling rounds concludes at Foster on 10th September 2006.
