Along with the rezoning of the land for Special Events Motorcycle Racing we can now plan for the future, the committee has been working for the last 6-7 years to buy this land after it had been told the land was now surplus and available for sale.
With the funds from the Dandenong Junior Moto X Club, which was held in trust since the amalgamation and Dandenong Motor Cycle Club funds, the land has now been purchased.

Practice Day Wonthaggi
Next practice day is to be held Sunday 10th February these practice days will be subject to the water from our Dam being available, As water restrictions now apply across the state we no longer can use Local water supplies, over previous years practice days have been cancelled because of wet conditions, fire bans never because of lack of water.

Hi Team
I have just returned from holidays over the festive season and can now confirm that I am becoming a QLD'er as of the 12 Feb and will be based in Brisbane!
Just before Xmas I was given an opportunity to move up to QLD and become National account manager for HB Fuller, and we negotiated until today for all pieces to come into place.

The decision to move up north was not an easy one, as growing up around Victoria and my involvement in the DMCC club has been very rewarding - with a large emphasis placed on the friendships I have gained over recent years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support, friendship and trust over the last few years when I've been learning from each of you. You all have contributed to where I'm heading in life... which is definitely filled with possibilities!

The first General meeting is scheduled to be on the 1st Feb and will be my last as a committee member, and MX Chairman - it would be a great opportunity at this meeting to ask for volunteers to fill the position also.
If anyone has the time and the interest to go along to MV MX meetings, be Gippsland Centre delegate and help run club practice days - it would be great to pass the baton on at this meeting.

My sincere apologies to the club for not being on hand to see the intended MX club champs evolve into a fun and action packed family day - just like we have all seen with the off-road club champs over the past few seasons. I hope the committee and MX committee can muster up the individuals and the energy to make it all happen, and I really wish big things for the club.

Good luck for 2007 and I hope to see you all again very soon.

Paul.

(PS: Feel free to drop me a line if holidaying or riding in the QLD area)

Wonthaggi News
Please note:
Most of you be aware that the final practice day for 2006 is on this Sunday at Wonthaggi and there are a few items that need to be raised before you get down there.

• I'm sure you would all be aware of the drought situation that is having an effect on all of us, Wonthaggi is now in stage 4 water restrictions also. We have arranged for a water truck (Vince) to come down early on Sunday morning and put down as much as possible till 9.30am, but due to water shortages he is restricted to pumping water out of our dam.
This means that to ensure the track is safe from dust, all riders will have to take some time during the day to water the track. So please come down and be prepared to take some time when your not riding to help each other keep the track in safe & enjoyable condition.
• The wash bays will not available due to water restrictions – this is town water and illegal to use for washing bikes
• We will be short of volunteers on hand to help run the day on Sunday so please help out when you can. There are plenty of fluro vests down there so if you see a job that needs doing please put your hand up and we can all share the load.
• Minimum of 3 flag marshals and finish line are required to keep the day running safely and smoothly, if you’re a new member or haven’t done it before please help us out and put up your hand. Riding will only continue whilst flaggies are in position – maybe you could arrange with friends to swap between sessions and the day will continue to run safely & like clock work?
• Signing in times for riding will still be cut off at 11am so make sure you arrive before hand.

For track conditions ring Peter Hall on 0417 550575 Sunday after 8.30am.

Wonthaggi News
As you where advised in previous newsletters the Club has had the permit now changed to “Special Events” permit, this was done to allow the club to purchase the land.
The NRE has now agreed to sell the club the land we have leased from them for the past 35 years, we have now received the necessary papers to purchase the land, (DMCC also owns our Club Rooms) The purchase of this land has been made possible with the help of moneys that where held in trust from the Dandenong Junior Moto-Cross Club when the two clubs amalgamated. We wish to thank all committee members that helped with the purchase of the property especially Denise Hore for all the extra work that was required to obtain to purchase the land. Denise never gave up; dealing with government department can be frustrating at various times.

Wonthaggi Practice Day
Last Wonthaggi practice day 9/7/2006 was about to be cancelled for lack of a MAV official, Rob Lewis offered to run the meeting and did an excellent job in helping with the meeting, checking Wrist Bands and Helmets, still had problem couple of senior riders riding in the Pit Area, on practice day this area is set aside for Learners & Pee Wee riders.
The 11.30am cut off for rider sign in is working well, less riders are now turning up for practice days making the day easier to control with the number members available to run practice days. Several commented that the track was in perfect condition, rain on Friday & Saturday prior to the practice day meant the track did not require watering even a small amount of dust by the end of the day did not cause any problems.

Wonthaggi - Practice Days
Many of you would have seen an email or two circulating between the DMCC members and a response put forward by our committee. For those that haven't read through, let me touch on a few points:
The Committee has noted that there are some club members who are currently unhappy about the amount of riding available at the Wonthaggi MX circuit. Some members also feel that their contribution/riding fee for Practice days should be used to pay for an organization to for fill corner marshal positions and track watering duties.
The DMCC is a family club that is about offering a safe enjoyable environment for families to get involved in the sport of motorcycling, and being responsible as a contributor to the surrounding community - this means volunteers. The club is also run by a committee of volunteers who takes responsibility for the events that the club runs, which is why we ask members to contribute to a safe riding environment - assisting with flag marshalling. Motor sport can be dangerous, and that is why we ask people who participate in the sport, and know the correct procedures and associated risks, to also help assist. The DMCC has no interest in asking people to put their safety at risk, and that is why we request a few flag marshals, riders to help water the track the way they like it and keep the dust down.
The DMCC committee is also responsible in making sure that the neighbouring communities don't have reason to complain about our events, especially when we are in the final stages of securing the land. Whilst noise regulations for MX are loose and bikes stay loud the Wonthaggi track will not be open every weekend.
Since publishing some emails recently, the committee has been enlightened by many responses from passionate DMCC members who are offering good ideas and willing to step up & be an active part of the club. We thank them for the input and also invite them to come along to our Thursday night meetings (next is 22-6-06 @ 8pm) to be involved and help make some progress.

One last thought, we will need a new group of members to help out running our next practice day (9-7-06) as this weekend conflicts with the A4DE, Aust MX champs@ Broadford and most of our normal contributors who run the practice days are unavailable. If you can help out on the day we need to hear from you by 30th June….otherwise we will have no option but to cancel the day. None of us want that, so call us to make a commitment before the 30th June. Best of luck in your decision - Call Paul Bray: 0418 611220.

Welcome to New Members
